Negotiating Salary On Your First Job Offer - Earning Ideas

Negotiating Salary On Your First Job Offer

If you get a job offer after your job interview, especially if this is your first major job, take it and run! Don’t be foolish and try to squeeze extra money out of the employer by asking for a higher salary before you even start the job.
In these tough economic times, pushing the envelope, especially when it comes to your first job, is a bit risky.
You don’t want to come across as arrogant or entitled, which you know is already the stereotype of our generation.
Unless your starting salary is so low that you would need to take on a second job just to pay the rent, I would refrain from asking your prospective employer to “do better” on the salary offered to you.
The time to ask for a raise is after a few years, when you’ve proven yourself as an indispensable asset to the company or organization where you work.
If you’ve added noticeable value to the company maybe you exceeded your sales goal if you’re in a sales job or you conceived a brilliant idea for the organization’s social media campaign you have even more leverage in asking for a raise.
